Press Release -- Wildwood Park Trails Phase 1

WILDWOOD PARK TRAIL SYSTEM - PHASE I

The City of Radford, Pathways for Radford and the Radford Recreation Commission are pleased to announce that Phase I of the Wildwood Park Trail System will be under construction in June 2001.

Through a grant from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and matching funds from the City of Radford, planning and design have been underway that will guide the construction of 1,326 linear feet of U.S. forestry service trails on the western slope of Wildwood Park.  The project's outcome will expand Radford's recreational opportunities, as well as promote the educational, historical, and ecological assets of Radford's 54-acre Wildwood Park.

A ground breaking ceremony will be held on Monday, June 25, 2001 at 4:00 P.M. in Wildwood Park.

Questions concerning the project may be directed to Bruce Mahin, President of Pathways for Radford (831-6174), Chuck Kugler, Chairman of the Wildwood Park Committee (831-5714), or David Ridpath, City of Radford,
(731-5047).
